The Windom Area School Board approved an intervention teacher for Windom Area High School at Monday night’s board meeting.
This position is expected to be filled prior to the beginning of the school year this fall.
Superintendent Jamie Frank said the district has been doing a great deal of training in the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to ensure that every learner receives the help they need.
She said the MTSS framework has provided effective instruction both in academics and social/emotional skills at the elementary and middle school for a decade, providing additional interventions to those not performing at grade level.
Now administration is doing a deep dive into what MTSS would look like for high school students. The superintendent and others attended the state-sponsored MTSS conference in June to learn more about free resources available to districts.
