At a special meeting last week the Windom City Council met with MnDOT representatives to discuss preliminary design concepts for a roundabout at the south junction of Highways 60 and 71.
The roundabout was originally expected to be built sometime in the 2030s (target had been 2032, but, with anticipated state budget downturns, timelines are fluid).
District 7 Project Manager Mary Loeffler told the council, “last fall, MnDOT submitted an application for Highway Safety Improvement Program funding and we received that along with the city. So we’re moving forward with that standalone project for 2027 construction, which is a rather quick turnaround.”
