State Class A Meet
One local athlete claimed a medal at the Class A State Track and Field Meet Tuesday at St. Michael-Albertville High School, while other area participants took part in preliminary competition.
Windom
Windom senior Job Ogeka wound up placing third in the triple jump competition for the second straight year.
Ogeka recorded his best jump of the competition on his final preliminary jump, leaping 44-½. That moved him into third place entering finals, which is also where he finished.
Ogeka and fellow Windom senior Kevin Bleess were scheduled to compete in the long jump competition Wednesday afternoon.
MLAC
Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey junior Gracie Peters finished with a time of 1:01.17 in the girls 400-meter dash. That put her in 19th place overall. The top two finishers in each of the three heats, as well as the next three best times, advanced to Wednesday’s finals.
MLAC senior Ethan Schroeder ran a time of 1:59.11 in the boys 800-meter run. That put him in 11th place overall. The top two finishers in each of the three heats, as well as the next three best times, advanced to Wednesday’s finals.
Neither Peters nor Schroeder moved on to the finals.
MCWBO
Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin senior Berent Kosbab ran a time of 11.56 in the boys 100-meter dash. That put him in 15th place.
The top two finishers in each of the three preliminary heats, as well as the next three best times, advanced to Wednesday’s finals. Kosbab did not advance to the finals.
