Jury selection in Cottonwood County District Court wrapped up Friday morning for the trial for a murder that took place on New Year’s Eve.
The panel of 12 jurors and two alternates will hear testimony in the case against No Name Given Happy of San Diego, California, who is charged with second-degree murder in a New Year’s Eve stabbing at the Phat Pheasant Pub, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Benjamin Matter of Windom.
Happy is charged with six felony counts stemming from the incident, including second-degree murder with intent (not premeditated), second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and three counts of felony threats of violence.
Testimony in the trial is expected to begin Monday morning.
