Keeping Windom safe and beautiful were among the key factors as the Windom City Council voted to reject plans for three new billboards along Highway 60-71.
The vote came on the heels of a recent recommendation by the Planning and Zoning Commission opposing the billboards. Specifically, the council voted to deny conditional use permits related to the billboards. Those permit requests were submitted by Summit Locations LLC.
Had the permits been approved, three billboards would have been installed on the north side of the city. The location was described as the west side of the highway at 2270 Highway 60 (near the AmericInn) and at 195 13th Street (just south of Culligan). One billboard was planned on the east side of the highway at 1375 First Avenue (near the Hair with Flair salon).
