Section 2A South Meet
Windom, Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey and Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin took part in the Section 2A South Meet Thursday in Wells.
Windom’s boys finished third in the team standings with 85 points. MLAC was eighth with 42. MCWBO was 10th with 31. Maple River won the team title with 128 points.
For the girls, MLAC was ninth with 31 points. Windom was 10th with 30 and MCWBO was 12th with 14 points. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton won the team title with 124½ points.
The top eight individuals in each event and the top four teams in each relay advance to the Section 2A Meet.
Windom
Windom’s boys were led by Job Ogeka, who took first in the triple jump (43-2) and second in the long jump (20-5). Kevin Bleess added a win in the long jump (20-6). Braylen Lyons added a win in the 800 (2:06.55).
Elliot Serreyn placed second in the high jump (6-0). Caelen Ralston was third in the 3,200 (10:54.15). Bryce Green placed fourth in the 1,600 (4:57.66). Trent Rothenberger placed fifth in the shot put (42-7¼). Royce Smith took fifth in the discus (123-2). Isaac Bordewyk was seventh in the 800 (2:14.20).
Windom’s team of Ogeka, Bleess, Green and Lyons was second in the 4×400 relay (3:36.63). The team of Lyons, Green, Bordewyk and Ralston was second in the 4×800 relay (8:36.97).
The Eagle girls were led by Lilly Meyer, who placed second in the discus (111-4). Theora Ahnupkana was fourth in the discus (99-11). Macie Carlson was seventh in the 1,600 (5:54.36). Ava Van Norman took seventh in the 200 (29.06). Haidyn Sammons finished eighth in the 300 hurdles (53.81).
Windom’s 4×400 relay team of Sammons, Kenzi Meyeraan, Carlson and Harriet Lohse advanced with a fourth-place finish (4:27.89).
MLAC
MLAC’s boys were led by a runner-up finish from Ethan Schroeder in the 1,600 (4:44.47). Schroeder also was fifth in the 800 (2:09.13). Cooper Evers was third in the 800 (2:07.57). Joseph Torres took fourth in the 3,200 (10:57.98) and sixth in the 1,600 (5:00.93). Cameron Meyer was fifth in the high jump (5-8), sixth in the 300 hurdles (45.00) and seventh in the long jump (18-2). Eli Hall placed sixth in the shot put (42-2½).
The Wolverine girls were led by Gracie Peters, who won the 400 (1:02.42). Katie Johnson was fourth in the 800 (2:39.25) and 1,600 (5:47.56). Zoe Evers placed sixth in the 300 hurdles (53.39). Hannah Beyer was seventh in the 400 (1:08.24) and eighth in the 800 (2:48.16). Emily Johnson was seventh in the 3,200 (13:44.31).
MCWBO
The MCWBO boys were led by Berent Kosbab, who placed second in the 100 (11.62) and third in the 200 (22.84). Barret Scholl was fourth in the shot put (43-3½). Hank Olson was eighth in the discus (115-0). Lixon Forsberg placed eighth in the triple jump (36-11). The 4×200 relay team of Forsberg, Josh Roben, Mason Menssen and Kale Larson finished third (1:39.28).
The Maverick girls were led by a fourth-place finish in the 100 by Ava Thate (13.46), who also took sixth in the high jump (4-8). Evelynn Christenson was sixth in the 1,600 (5:49.48).
Section 3A Central Meet
Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central took part in the Section 3A Central Meet Thursday in Redwood Falls.
The Charger girls were sixth with 46 points. Redwood Valley won the meet with 152½ points. The WWG/RRC boys were also sixth with 54 points. Redwood Valley won the team title with 180½.
The top four finishers in each event automatically qualify for the Section 3A Meet. The remaining spots in the section meet are determined on a wild card basis, based on the top-finishing non-automatic qualifiers from the three sub-section meets. Those wild card entries were expected to be announced this weekend.
The Charger girls were led by Miranda Mischke, who placed third in the 1,600 (6:00.81) and fourth in the high jump (4-8). Evelyn Rentschler was fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.09). Ally Linder placed fourth in the shot put (31-8).
The Charger boys were led by Bowen Hesse, who won the 110 hurdles (16.07) and was fourth in the 300 hurdles (48.18). Adrian Yang was second in the pole vault (10-8). The 4×100 relay team of Chris Xiong, Robert Yang, Jordan Therkilsen and Carter Therkilsen placed third (47.14).
