The Windom Eagle baseball team got a dominant pitching performance Tuesday, leading to a 4-1 victory over Redwood Valley at Island Park.
Senior Charles Erickson held the Cardinals to three hits, walked one and struck out 14 in the game. Erickson took a perfect game into the fifth inning, when the Cardinals got their first baserunner on an error. Redwood Valley then got its first hit in the sixth, leading to its only run of the game.
The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first. Stevie Meyer ripped an RBI double over the head of the Cardinal center fielder. Joe Walinga followed with an RBI single.
In the fourth, the Eagles took a 3-0 lead when Walinga drove in a run on a squeeze bunt.
Leading 3-1 in the sixth, Meyer hit an RBI single, giving Windom a 4-1 lead.
Redwood Valley put two runners in scoring position in the seventh inning, but Erickson struck out three straight batters to end the game.
Hayden Tietz, Meyer and Jackson Anderson each had two hits in the win for the Eagles.

Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove took the lead early and padded it late Tuesday, claiming an 8-3 victory over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at Ruthton.
RRC/WWG scored on a two-run double in the second from Jordan Therkilsen. Then, the Falcons added a run on a wild pitch in the third. Therkilsen added an RBI single in the fourth, giving the Falcons a 4-1 lead.
RTR closed to within 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, but the Falcons put the game out of reach in the seventh. Austin Imker hit an RBI single, Jake Erickson plated a run with a fielder’s choice and two runs scored on an error.
Therkilsen had two hits and three RBI in the win.
Hudsen Jenniges earned the pitching win, working the first 4-⅔ innings. He allowed five hits, walked four and struck out 10. Imker worked the final two shutout innings for a save, striking out four.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey couldn’t recover from a rough fifth inning Tuesday, dropping a 17-7 decision to Edgerton/Southwest Christian at Mt. Lake.
The Wolverines took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, scoring on an error and a Landon Simon RBI single.
ESWC answered with three runs in the third. The Dutchmen then plated eight runs in the top of the fifth, taking an 11-2 lead.
The Wolverines closed the deficit to 11-7 with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Tanner Schultz hit an RBI double, Simon added an RBI single and Quin Vidana had an RBI single. MLAC added runs on a wild pitch and an error.
The Dutchmen added a run in the sixth, then put the game away with five runs in the seventh.
Schultz, Simon and Jason Wright had two hits each for the Wolverines.
Alden Klassen took the pitching loss, working the first 4-⅔ innings.
