A trial for second-degree murder in Cottonwood County is moving forward, following a hearing Tuesday.
At the hearing, Judge Christine Wietzema denied three motions by the defense attorneys representing No Name Happy, who is charged with second-degree murder stemming from a New Year’s Eve stabbing incident at the Phat Pheasant Pub in Windom.
The judge denied defense a motion to suppress statements made by the defendant to law enforcement, as well as denied a motion for a change of trial venue and denied a motion to release the knife for testing by the defense.
Happy pled not guilty to all charges at his arraignment Tuesday. A pre-trial hearing will be held May 23, with the trial scheduled to begin June 5.
