After years of wrangling, Cottonwood County Commissioners voted to move forward with plans to replace the windows of the county courthouse.
Three bids for the massive project were received. The low bid of $744,484 from Murphy Window and Door of Princeton, was ultimately approved.
The board did express concern over requirements from the Minnesota Historical Society, including wooden frames for the windows.
The concern is that having windows replaced contrary to specifications from the Historical Society could potentially jeopardize the courthouse’s listing on the National Registry of Historic Places.
On a 5-0 vote, the board accepted the bid.
The board also approved a proposal for designated services from Engan Associates to develop plans for window coverings for the windows.
