Cottonwood County’s vacancy for the county attorney’s position will apparently be short-lived.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners approved the resignation of county attorney Deja Weber, effective April 25. Weber will be taking a position as an assistant county attorney in Blue Earth County.
The board then discussed options to fill the vacancy, with Commissioner Tom Appel noting he had reached out to former county attorney Nick Anderson about returning to the position, with Anderson stating the salary it would take for him to leave his current position with the state public defender’s office.
The board approved appointing Anderson to fill the vacancy, at a salary of $171,000 for 2025.
