Springfield jumped out to an early lead and made it stand Friday, claiming a 14-9 victory over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey at Mt. Lake.
The Tigers broke the game open with a five-run third inning, taking a 9-2 lead at the time.
MLAC got on the board in the bottom of the first on RBI singles from Ella Dockter and Ashlyn Pfeiffer.
In the third, Julia Brinkman scored on an error and Dockter had an RBI single.
Brinkman scored on a double steal in the fourth, then hit an RBI single in the sixth.
MLAC added its final three runs on a bases-clearing double from Phithsada Phoumivong.
Brinkman had three hits. Dockter and Pfeiffer each added two hits.
Pfeiffer took the pitching loss, allowing 15 hits and two walks while fanning three.
