The Windom Eagle softball team couldn’t solve Jackson County Central’s pitchers Tuesday as the Huskies swept a doubleheader from the Eagles, winning 9-0 and 19-5 in Jackson.
In the opener, JCC broke the game open in the middle innings, scoring four times in the third, once in the fourth and four in the fifth. The Huskies capitalized on eight Eagle errors, leading to eight unearned runs.
Meanwhile, the Eagles were held to five hits and struck out 12 times.
Anja Nielsen took the pitching loss in the opener, allowing eight hits and five walks while striking out six.
In the nightcap, JCC jumped out to an early lead with six runs over the first three innings before the Eagles got on the board. JCC then scored 13 times in its final two trips to the plate to seal the win.
Windom scored its first run of the day in the bottom of the fourth inning on an Alivia Letcher RBI double.
Brita Tjentland added an RBI double in the fifth..
In the sixth, Charlee Huska hit an RBI double and Nielsen hit a two-run double.
Huska and Nielsen had two hits each in the loss.
Tjentland took the pitching loss, working the first 4-⅔ innings. She allowed five hits, walked five and struck out two.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey opened its season with an early lead but couldn’t make the lead stand in a 12-5 loss to Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian Tuesday in Edgerton.
The Wolverines got on the board in the top of the first on an RBI groundout from Ella Dockter.
Then, MLAC took a 5-1 lead in the third. Doctor ripped an RBI double and later scored on an error. Kelby Janzen added a two-run single.
But the Dutchmen tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the fourth, then scored three in the fifth and four in the sixth to claim the win.
Janzen had two hits to lead the Wolverines.
Ashlyn Pfeiffer took the pitching loss.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton took advantage of scoring chances Tuesday, claiming an 11-5 win over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove at Lower Plum Creek Park near Walnut Grove.
The Falcons took an early lead with an RBI double from Natalie Wahl in the first inning, but RTR answered with five runs in the second.
Trailing 6-1, the Falcons cut the deficit in the third as Leah Carter smashed a two-run home run. But RTR answered in the fifth inning, pushing the lead to 10-3 on a grand slam home run.
The Falcons added RBI singles in the sixth from Carlie Ross and Wahl.
Carter had three hits in the loss. Wahl added a pair of hits.
Ross took the pitching loss, allowing six hits and nine walks while striking out eight.
