The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning, which will run from noon today until 8 p.m.
The warning includes Cottonwood, Jackson, Nobles, Murray, Pipestone and Rock counties.
A red flag warning means conditions are favorable for potential spread of wildfires, with factors including dry ground conditions, low humidity and strong winds.
Under these conditions, wildfires can spread quickly and grow out of control.
Residents in a red flag warning should not burn and should check that any recent burning has been completely extinguished.
