Despite rumors to the contrary, two facts are true about the Windom municipal swimming pool:
• The pool, which was damaged during last summer’s record flood, will not reopen in 2025.
• There will be no decision on the pool’s long-range future until after a pool study is finished.
In December, the city council hired Burbach Aquatics to inspect the pool at a cost of $20,000.
The inspection will help FEMA determine relief funds, based on percentage of repairs resulting from the flood (compared to the effects of aging facilities). City Administrator Steve Nasby said the city has not received the inspection report.
