The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning that includes most of Southwest Minnesota, including Cottonwood County.
A red flag warning means conditions are favorable for wildfires to quickly get out of control, including dry conditions, low relative humidity and strong wind gusts.
Because of the warning, the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department is imposing a burning ban that will run through the day today.
