A 52-year-old Hartley, Iowa, man has been charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct — penetration or contact with a victim under age 14 and perpetrator over 36 months older.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim had been interviewed by Child’s Voice in Sioux Falls, describing multiple sexual abuse acts by his uncle, Michael Prokop.
The victim disclosed he would ride in a semi-truck with his uncle, Prokop. The victim stated he was 12 years old the first time Prokop put his hands inside his pants, with the incident taking place between Windom and Heron Lake on Highway 60 while Prokop was driving.
The victim also described an incident when the semi was parked in the Runnings parking lot in Windom when the victim was forced to perform oral sex, and another on a different date when the victim was sodomized by Prokop.
If convicted, each of the three charges carries a maximum possible sentence of 30 years in prison, a $40,000 fine or both.
