A Windom man is facing felony charges after allegedly failing to comply with predatory offender registration requirements according to a complaint stemming from an incident on or about Aug. 8, 2024 through Jan. 31, 2025.
The complaint said a warrant has been issued for Walter Charles Marple, 43. Marple faces a predatory offender-knowingly commits act or fails to fulfill registration requirement charge. The complaint said investigators determined he was not living at his registered address and had not updated his information with law enforcement, according to a criminal complaint.
The complaint said Marple, who is required to register as a predatory offender due to a previous conviction, last reported living at a rural address in Windom in August 2024. However, deputies attempted to contact him multiple times since then and found no evidence he was residing there, authorities said.
According to the complaint, deputies spoke with Marple by phone in August, at which time he claimed he was in Rochester and acknowledged that his listed phone number was no longer valid. He told law enforcement he would update his registration in person within days, but never did.
The complaint said investigators say Marple has two prior convictions for failing to register.
If convicted on the new charge, he faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, with a minimum sentence of two years in prison.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating Marple, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
