A Windom man faces a felony charge of domestic abuse no contact order according to a complaint stemming from Feb. 14.
According to the complaint, Tyler Cole Mau, 30, was arrested on the morning of Feb. 14 after a police officer observed him in a vehicle with a woman whom he was legally prohibited from contacting. He faces a felony violation no contact order-within 10 years of the first of two or more convictions charge.
The complaint said a Windom police officer was patrolling near a Speedway when he noticed a vehicle with a male passenger who covered his face upon seeing law enforcement.
The complaint said the officer later stopped the vehicle and identified the passenger as Mau. A review of court records confirmed an active domestic abuse no contact order prohibiting contact between Mau and the driver. The driver admitted to officers that the two had been in communication and that she had picked him up earlier that evening.
The complaint said Mau has a prior history of domestic-related offenses, including previous convictions for violating court orders.
The complaint also said Mau was taken into custody following his arrest. A Cottonwood County judge signed an order for his continued detention pending further proceedings.
If convicted, the felony charge carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison punishable by up to 30 days to five years and a $10,000 fine.
