The Windom Area School Board approved two curriculum proposals at Monday’s board meeting.
The Bridges Preschool teaching team presented the Frog Street curriculum and later, elementary teachers and Elementary Principal Corey Barfknecht gave a presentation about the K-4 literacy curriculum, the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) program.

The preschool teaching team completed Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) training during the 2023-24 school year.
Superintendent Jamie Frank said the current curriculum is 10 years old and does not align with current research and best practices.
Preschool teachers Victoria Patterson, Angie Geesman and Natalie Burmeister gave a short presentation about the Frog Street learning program to the board.
They explained that the preschool team has undergone a curriculum adoption process, reviewing several curricula designed for three- and four-year-old programs.
The new curriculum would begin in the fall of 2025-26, targeting students ages three and four.
