A 52-year-old Storden male is facing a felony charge of threats of violence, reckless disregard of risk and fifth-degree assault charges, a misdemeanor, from an incident that occurred on or about June 23, 2024.
According to the statement of probable cause, at 8:47 a.m. on June 23, 2024 Cottonwood County dispatch received a 911 call from a resident on United States Avenue in Storden.
The called reported that defendant Ron Wayne Loeffler was at her house and threatening to kill her.
While a Cottonwood County deputy was en route to the residence, he was advised that the defendant was no longer at the residence and that the caller would call back if he was to return. The deputy was also advised that Loeffler did not enter the house.
At 9:10 a.m. the deputy arrived and the caller was outside her home and was still visibly upset. The complaint then stated that the female had been living at her residence for about a month after a mutual friend had committed suicide. She stated that she and Loeffler had a disagreement over dogs and at one point a few weeks back, he had stolen her dog and brought it to Lamberton.
She then told the deputy that the defendant showed up the morning of June 23 and wanted to get his things, which had been stored in an outside garage. She then stated that she thought Loeffler had already gotten his things and when she stated that to him, he got angry and said he was going to kill her.
He then got into his truck, spun his tires as he left the driveway.
The maximum sentence for the charged felony is five years in prison and a $10,000 fine with the maximum for the misdemeanor being 90-days in jail and the $1,000 fine.
Loeffler’s first appearance in court will be March 3, 2025.
