Gina May Olson-Kronback, a 44-year-old female from rural Mt. Lake, faces a felony charge of issuing a dishonored check, with intent that the check not be paid, of a value aggregated of more than $500. The felony charge stems from an incident that occurred on July 29, 2024.
According to a written complaint, on July 29, 2024 a Cottonwood County deputy spoke with Patrick Amundson, who is a representative of a company named Village Pet Products. Amundson stated that the company received a back check from Olson-Kronback stating that the account was closed.
Village Pet Products, which falls under the ownership of Johnson Feed. Inc., was contacted by the defendant for pet supplies for their farm, which was described as a kennel/rescue farm.
The complaint then stated that Olson-Kronback opened up an account with Pet Village Products by filling out an application on June 28, 2024, then placed a large order for pet supplies on July 17, 2024.
The check for the supplies was written for $3,189.99 to pay for the supplies and was returned “account closed.”
Amundson then sent a notice of dishonor and demand for payment worthless check to Olson-Kronback. He also stated that they had made several phone calls and sent emails, all of which were unanswered.
Then on Aug. 24, 2024, according to the written complaint, the sheriff deputy received an email from Josie Johnson of Johnson Feed in reference to a FedEx tracking for the demand for payment letter sent to Olson-Kronback. The package, which was shipped overnight on Aug. 7, 2024 and delivered on Aug. 8, 2024 and was signed for by a G. Olson. The deputy then contacted Ms. Johnson on Sept. 10, 2024 to see if they had received any communication from the defendant, which they had not.
The maximum sentence for issuance of a dishonored check is five years in prison and $10,000 fine.
Olson-Kronback’s first court appearance is scheduled for March 3, 2025.
