The Windom boys basketball team saw an early lead against a state-ranked opponent slip away Tuesday, as the Eagles fell 75-61 at Springfield.
The Tigers used a 19-7 run halfway through the opening half to take the lead for good after the Eagles held an early four-point advantage. Springfield held the Eagles’ outside game in check and held Windom to four free throw attempts in the game.
Springfield also held a commanding 52-34 edge on the glass, including grabbing 24 offensive rebounds.
Job Ogeka led the Eagles with 22 points. Elliot Serreyn added 15 points in the loss.
RTR 39-37 = 76
RRC 23-24 = 47
Russell-Tyler-Ruthton took command early Tuesday and led nearly wire-to-wire in a 76-47 victory over Red Rock Central at Lamberton.
RRC briefly held the lead in the opening minutes of the game, but RTR used a 12-3 run to establish the lead, eventually building the lead to 16 points by halftime.
RTR shot 53% from the field in the game while holding the Falcons to 31%.
Henry Stavnes led the Falcons with 16 points in the loss. Abe Stavnes added eight points.
