A backlog of cases in the Cottonwood County attorney’s office likely won’t improve any time soon with a murder trial potentially on the horizon.
As a result, Cottonwood County Commissioners voted on Tuesday to extend a service agreement with Jackson County Attorney Kristi Meyeraan to assist with cases in Cottonwood County.
The county will pay Meyeraan a flat fee of $5,000 per month, with Meyeraan handling primarily felony cases.
More from Tuesday’s meeting appears in the Feb. 19 print and e-editions of the Citizen.
