The state’s second-ranked team found its footing in the second half Tuesday, as unbeaten Waseca pulled away late for a 97-74 win over the Windom boys basketball team at Waseca.
The Eagles hung tight with the Bluejays in the first half, as Windom held onto a two-point halftime lead. The early stages of the second half also were back-and-forth, with Windom tying the game on four different occasions.
But Waseca put together a lengthy scoring run, outscoring the Eagles 33-10 to end the game.
Quintin Tietz led the Eagles with 22 points in the loss. Job Ogeka scored 16 points, Elliot Serreyn had 11 points and 15 rebounds and Charles Erickson scored 10.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey couldn’t overcome a sluggish first half Tuesday night, as the Wolverines fell 71-53 to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at Mt. Lake.
RTR blew the game open in the first half with a 24-2 run, taking a 24-point lead into halftime.
The Wolverines were able to mount a small comeback early in the second half, but RTR’s steady shooting helped prevent a full comeback by the Wolverines.
Maxton Fast led the Wolverines with 22 points in the loss. Aidan Olson added 12 points.

RRC 10-23 = 33
A cold night from the field doomed Red Rock Central Tuesday night, as Murray County Central rolled to a 65-33 win at Lamberton.
RRC shot just 23% from the field, as the Rebels held the Falcons to 10 field goals in the game.
Meanwhile, MCC shot 46% from the field and outscored the Falcons 38-12 in the paint. The Rebels were 50% from two-point range in the game.
Henry Stavnes led the Falcons with 10 points. Austin Imker added nine points in the loss.
