Work to repair the deteriorating east and west stairs and outdoor landings for the Cottonwood County Courthouse could start as early as May.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners approved the budget for the project at an estimated $649,491.
The project also would protect electrical panels and the building’s existing snow melt system and would furnish and install a new steel structure and decking.
The project would remove and replace one side of the courthouse steps at a time. Additionally, the east parking lot would likely be closed during construction and used for material storage.
The board approved the estimate and gave the go-ahead to proceed with the project.
