This past weekend, the Windom Area Schools robotics teams at both the high school and middle school levels competed in their final regular season tournament of the season.
The teams will now prepare for the upcoming State Tournament and the U.S. Open Robotics Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa in March. The ultimate goal is to qualify for the World Competition in Dallas, Texas in May.
The two high school teams — The Masked Bandits and Yippi Ki Yay — were on hand to prepare for the final regular-season tournament last Thursday.
After a slow start to the season, Yippi Ki Yay has picked it up and the team is performing well.
“So far our season has been a lot better, probably the best season that we’ve had,” junior Caleb Tibodeau said. “I was on the team in eighth-grade and we had a pretty good year, but I think we’ve probably topped it now. I’m really happy with how the season is going and I still think we’ve got some improvements we can make.”
