The Windom Eagle girls basketball team turned up the defensive intensity in the second half and settled in on offense Tuesday, pulling away for an 88-50 win over Murray County Central at Windom.
MCC kept things tight with the Eagles much of the opening half, with Windom leading 19-17 and 24-20 early. But the Eagles pulled away in the closing minutes of the half to stretch the lead to 11 at the break.
Windom then turned up the defense in the second half, holding MCC to 19% from the field in the second half, while Windom shot 58% from the field in the second half.
Haidyn Sammons and Anja Nielsen each scored 21 points to lead the Eagles in the win. Hadley Sammons scored 19 and Hannah Dauer added 12.
