The publications of Citizen Publishing have received 11 awards in the annual Minnesota Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest.
The Cottonwood County Citizen received first-place honors for use of photography as a whole, and a news photo taken by Trevor Slette was recognized with a first-place award.
The Citizen also received second place for general reporting, third place for local breaking news coverage and third place for Category X, which this year was coverage of an annual local event.
The Mt. Lake/Butterfield Observer/Advocate received first place for general excellence and second place for sports reporting.
The O/A also received third-place honors for typography and design, use of photography as a whole, classified advertising section and a sports photo by Joel Alvstad.
