Parkston Tournament
The Windom-Mt. Lake Area wrestling team had six placewinners and placed ninth in the team standings at the Parkston, S.D. Tournament Saturday.
The Cobras finished with 84 team points. Parkston won the title with 232½ points.
The tournament used South Dakota weight classes.
For the Cobras, Kameron Koerner and Graycen Hansen each placed third. Koerner opened the 138-pound bracket with a fall, then lost by technical fall in the semifinals. He rebounded with a fall and a major decision to place third. At 215 pounds, Hansen opened with a fall, then was pinned in the semifinals. Hansen then recorded back-to-back falls to place third.
Matthew Voehl placed fifth at 120 pounds. Damian Aguirre finished fifth at 175 pounds. Dagen Hansen placed sixth at 132 pounds. Sam Hernandez placed sixth at 190 pounds.
Highwater Ethanol Tournament
Red Rock Central had one placewinner and finished 14th in the team standings at the Highwater Ethanol Tournament, held Friday at Lamberton.
The Falcons finished with 26 team points. Staples-Motley won the team title with 227 points.
The lone Falcon placewinner came at 107 pounds, where Keagan Steen opened the tournament with back-to-back falls. He then won a major decision in the semifinals before dropping a 3-1 decision to Garrett Bjerga of Staples-Motley in the championship. The championship loss was Steen’s first loss of the season.
