The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department announced that a temporary burning ban has been put into place, effective immediately.
Dry conditions due to a lack of snowfall in the region, coupled with forecast high winds today, have created a high risk of wildfires in the county.
The ban will likely be in place until wind conditions subside or the area receives enough precipitation to reduce the fire risk.
