The Windom Arena and the Windom Area boys hockey team will be hosting a special collegiate hockey game on Feb. 1, beginning at 7 p.m., at the Windom Arena.
The Eagle boys will face Fairmont at 5 p.m. Following the Eagle game, Dordt University’s men’s hockey team will face off with the club men’s hockey team from Gustavus Adolphus College, starting at 7 p.m.
Admission covers both the boys game and the collegiate game.
Dordt plays in the ACHA Division III, while the Gustavus club team is an ACHA Division II team. Gustavus also has a varsity NCAA Division III program.
The Dordt team includes a handful of former Big South Conference players, including former Windom Area players Zach Espenson and Brady Espenson. Current Eagle Nick Espenson recently committed to playing at Dordt next year.
The Dordt team also is coached by Tyler Morgan, who was the head coach of the Windom Area boys hockey team during the 2016-17 season.
