The Windom Area boys hockey team saw a late rally fall short Thursday, as the Eagles dropped a 3-1 decision to Worthington at the Windom Arena.
Worthington jumped out to the early lead, scoring twice in the opening period. The Trojans were able to hold that lead until the 3:00 mark of the third period, when Ayden Endreson ripped a shot from the blue line that found its way into the net, cutting the Trojan lead to 2-1.
But the Eagles’ attempts to score the equalizer came up empty, and Worthington’s Anthony Jimenez scored an empty-net goal with 25 seconds left on the clock, sealing the win for the Trojans.
The Eagles outshot Worthington 46-25 in the game. Goalie Kole Espenson finished with 22 saves.
