The Windom Area girls hockey team couldn’t overcome a significant shot differential Tuesday night, dropping a 3-1 decision at Fairmont.
The Cardinals doubled the Eagles in shots on goal in the game, outshooting Windom Area 38-19 for the contest.
Fairmont netted a power play goal in the first period, but the Eagles answered at the 11:40 mark of the second, as Reagan Haugen scored a power play goal to tie the game at 1-1.
But the tie was short-lived, as Fairmont scored the go-ahead goal less than two minutes later, then added an insurance goal early in the third period.
Goalie Fiona Robillard finished with 35 saves in the loss.
