Mt. Lake police officers used a taser to subdue a suspect and end a standoff Saturday night.
According to the Mt. Lake Police Department, officers were dispatched to a home at 9:45 p.m. Saturday night. The caller reported a 32-year-old male holding a handgun to their head. The male was believed to be highly intoxicated.
Officers were able to contact the man’s wife, who was home with her husband and their children. She confirmed her husband was highly intoxicated. She added that a handgun was no longer secured in its typical location and she didn’t know where it was.
The wife convinced her husband to exit the house alone. Officers attempted to negotiate with the man.
After several minutes and multiple requests to show both hands, officers on scene took action, incapacitating the man by using a taser. That allowed officers to safely take the man into custody, where he faces multiple charges.
