BSC Tournament
The Windom-Mt. Lake wrestling team had three placewinners and finished 12th in the team standings at the Big South Conference Tournament, held Saturday in Jackson.
The Cobras finished with 38½ team points. Marshall won the tournament title with 222 points.
Individually for the Cobras, Matthew Voehl led the way, placing third at 114 pounds. Voehl won his opening match before falling in the semifinals. He rebounded with a technical fall, then pinned Elijah Mercado of St. Peter to finish third.
At 107 pounds, Jacob Lopez won his first two matches before falling in the semifinals. After a loss in the wrestlebacks, Lopez won a fall to finish fifth.
At 139 pounds, Kameron Koerner lost in the quarterfinals before winning his way into the medal round. He then dropped back-to-back bouts to finish sixth.
Paynesville Tournament
Red Rock Central had two medalists and placed 10th in the team standings at the Paynesville Tournament Friday.
RRC scored 36 team points. Paynesville won the team title with 193½ points.
Individually, Keagan Steen captured the championship at 107 pounds, recording two falls and a decision to advance to the finals. In the finals, he defeated Tyson Meagher of Paynesville 4-1 in sudden victory.
Marshal Willhite added a fourth-place finish at 121 pounds. Willhite won his opener before falling in the semifinals. He won the consolation round, but dropped a 9-3 decision in the third-place match.
