Cottonwood County will have a new county recorder, effective on March 1.
At Tuesday’s meeting, Cottonwood County Commissioners appointed Susan Horkey to the county recorder position, effective March 1. She will take over for retiring county recorder Kathy Kretsch and will serve the remainder of the elected term. The recorder position will be on the ballot in 2026.
Kretsch has worked for the county for 30 years, including the past 18 as county recorder.
Horkey had served as the chief deputy in the recorder’s office.
The board also set Horkey’s salary and approved the hiring of Kristi Hedman as a deputy recorder.
More from Tuesday’s meeting appears in the Jan. 8 print and e-editions of the Citizen.
