The Windom Area girls hockey team cranked up the offense late in the game Tuesday night but couldn’t net the go-ahead goal, as the Eagles skated to a 3-3 tie at Austin.
The Eagles outshot the Packers 51-32 for the game and 31-7 over the third period and overtime.
Windom Area took a 1-0 lead early in the game as Gretta Smith knocked in a rebound.
After Austin tied the game at 1-1, the Eagles again regained the lead as Brekkyn Rossow won a scramble in front of the net for the puck and found the goal. But Austin again tied the game later in the period.
The Eagles took the lead back at the 10:38 mark of the third, as Reagan Haugen scored a power play goal, knocking in a rebound. But with 1:28 left in regulation, Austin’s Allie Davidson netted the tying goal.
Neither team scored in overtime despite the Eagles holding a 16-1 edge in shots.
Fiona Robillard finished with 29 saves in the game.
