The Windom Area boys hockey claimed its second straight victory Thursday night, rallying from an early deficit for a 5-4 overtime win at Fairmont.
The Eagles held an early lead, as Jonah Lohse scored 2:45 into the contest, but Fairmont answered, scoring twice in the middle of the first period and halfway through the second to take a 3-1 lead.
The Eagles rebounded, as Lohse netted a pair of power play goals, giving him his first varsity career hat trick and cutting Fairmont’s lead to 4-3 after two periods.
Then, 1:20 into the third, Nick Espenson intercepted a pass and scored on a breakaway, tying the game at 4-4 and sending it to overtime.
In overtime, the Eagles won the opening faceoff and worked into the offensive zone. Espenson fed Lohse for a one-timer 15 seconds into overtime for the game-winner.
The Eagles outshot Fairmont 38-32 in the game.
Kole Espenson stopped all 15 shots he faced in relief.
