Marshall’s offense shelled the Windom Area girls hockey team Tuesday night, as the Tigers cruised to a 14-2 victory at Marshall.
The Tigers netted a power play goal, two even-strength goals and a shorthanded goal in the opening period to take a 4-0 lead. The shorthanded goal came with just three seconds left in the period.
Windom Area got on the board at the 4:19 mark of the second, as Addison Schumacher scored an unassisted goal. But the Tigers stretched the lead to 7-1 before the Eagles scored at the 10:27 mark of the period, as Ashlyn Koch scored off an assist from Ella Dockter, cutting the deficit to 7-2.
Marshall wasn’t done, though, scoring four more goals, including three in the final two minutes of the period, to take an 11-2 lead. The Tigers then netted three goals in the third.
Marshall outshot the Eagles 44-7 in the contest. Goalie Fiona Robillard finished with 30 saves.

Four goals in the final two minutes of the second period swung the game Tuesday, as Marshall rallied for a 7-1 win over the Windom Area boys hockey team at Marshall.
The Eagles held the lead early, as Daniel Staples scored an unassisted goal with 1:30 left in the opening period.
The Eagles held the lead until the closing minutes of the second, when the Tigers netted four goals in quick succession. Marshall added three more goals in the third to seal the win.
Marshall outshot the Eagles 42-8 in the game. Kole Espenson finished with 35 saves in the loss.
