A two-vehicle accident on Highway 71 south of Windom Tuesday evening claimed the life of an Albert Lea man.
The State Patrol reports that at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday, a 2023 Buick, driven by Amy Pigman of Odin, was north-bound on Highway 71. A 2018 Kia, driven by 28-year-old Hunter Schwartz of Albert Lea, was south-bound on Highway 71. The vehicles collided on the roadway around 510th Avenue, about three miles south of Windom in Jackson County.
Schwartz was transported to Windom Area Health, where he was pronounced dead. The State Patrol reports Schwartz was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
Pigman and three juvenile male passengers also were transported to Windom Area Health for non-life-threatening injuries.
Assisting at the scene were the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Windom Police Department, Windom Fire Department, Windom and Lakefield ambulance departments and Minnesota Department of Transportation Windom office.
