The Windom Area boys hockey team battled its way into a tie game Friday night, but Prairie Centre Area regained the lead 22 seconds after the Eagles had tied it.
The North Stars then iced a 5-3 win with an empty net goal in the closing minute at Sauk Centre.
The Eagles got on the board first, as Isaiah Adams scored his first varsity goal on the power play.
The North Stars tied the game with a shorthanded goal late in the opening period, then took a 2-1 lead early in the second.
Trailing 3-1 in the third, the Eagles mounted a comeback, as Jonah Lohse and Nick Espenson scored unassisted goals 17 seconds apart, tying the game at 3-3.
But 22 seconds after Espenson tied the game, the North Stars’ Leyton Fuchs scored his third of four goals in the game, giving Prairie Centre the lead for good.
Fuchs added an empty net goal with 30 seconds left to seal the win.
Prairie Centre outshot the Eagles 40-14 in the game. Kole Espenson finished with 35 saves in the loss.
