Worthington 22-58 = 80
Windom 51-53 = 104
A stifling defensive performance in the first half and hot shooting throughout allowed the Windom Eagles to improve to 2-0 for the season with a 104-80 victory over Worthington Tuesday in Windom.
The Eagles came out firing and pressing in the opening half, forcing numerous Trojan turnovers and hurried shots. That allowed the Eagles to get into their high-octane offense. The Eagles raced to an early 30-9 lead behind a thundering two-handed dunk from Elliot Serreyn, and extended the lead to 51-22 at halftime behind eight made three-pointers as a team.
In the second half, Worthington’s offense tried to spark a comeback, as the Trojans closed the deficit to 18 points. But the Eagles used eight more three-pointers in the final 18 minutes and good offensive balance to close out the victory.
Six Eagles scored in double figures in the win. Job Ogeka, Carter Rossow and Quintin Tietz each finished with 18 points. Kevin Bleess added 13 and Serreyn and Jackson Joyce each scored 12.
