The Windom Eagle boys basketball team opened the season with a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, erupting in the late stages of the first half on its way to a 103-57 win over Adrian-Ellsworth at Ellsworth.
The Eagle defense set the tone in the game, recording 14 steals and forcing the Dragons into 22 turnovers. Windom also held a 50-30 edge on the glass in the game, turning defense and rebounds into fast-break offense. A thundering dunk by Elliot Serreyn sparked the Eagles to an early 15-point lead, while driving baskets from Job Ogeka helped stake the Eagles to a 69-33 halftime lead.
The second half saw the Eagles continue a torrid offensive pace as Windom stretched the lead to nearly 50 points. Windom outscored the Dragons 38-8 in transition.
Elliot Serreyn scored a career-high 33 points and added 19 rebounds. Ogeka added a career-best 19 points. Jackson Joyce finished with nine points.
