Nothing is set in stone, but the Windom city council and four MnDOT officials agreed, at Tuesday night’s council meeting, to jointly seek a round-about on Highway 60-71, near Hardee’s.
Plans are to seek federal highway funds that have already been allocated to the state, but do not yet have a specific designation. The city council agreed to write a letter of support for MnDOT’s District 7 to use the funds on a new roundabout.
Officials said the local round-about, which was previously expected to be many years away, is still not a sure thing, but it is an opportunity. The recent fatal accident could be a factor in accelerating the effort, according to MnDOT staff.
