The Windom School Board moved ahead with plans to engage with two different construction firms.
The board agreed to have Mammoth Sports Construction of Kansas City, Missouri do the preliminary work on the potential outdoor athletic complex (football field/soccer field, track and field, baseball and softball fields).
Wold Architects and Engineers of St. Paul would provide the preliminary work on potential interior facility improvements (performing arts center, locker rooms, wrestling/gymnastics rooms).
The total cost for both projects would be around $35 million ($33 million for everything, plus an additional $2 million for capital interest), but that cost would come down by 42% due to the Ag2School credit, meaning the cost would be around $20 million.
“People all around the state of Minnesota are using Ag2School Credit to get projects done,” Windom Area Schools Superintendent Jamie Frank said. “Students in the Windom community would benefit from this 42% the state would kick in, which is about $15 million.”
