Missed opportunities to close out sets came back to haunt the Windom Eagle volleyball team Tuesday night, as the Eagles were eliminated from the Section 3AA playoffs with a 3-1 loss to Jackson County Central at Jackson.
Windom jumped out to an early lead in the opening set, only to see JCC rally for a 25-21 victory.
Then, in set two, the Eagles led 24-20 before JCC scored the final six points of the set for a 26-24 win and a 2-0 match lead.
JCC built a late lead in the third set before the Eagles battled back, securing a 25-20 win.
Then, in set four, JCC held a 23-18 lead, only to see the Eagles rally to take a 24-23 lead. But JCC was able to fight off set point, then scored two more points to close out the match.
Addison Colbert led the Eagles from the service line, going 31-of-31 with four aces. Hannah Dauer was 18-of-18 with two aces.
Dauer had a team-high 12 kills and five solo blocks in the match. Sadie Tjentland had eight kills and Adison Hogan added six kills.
Charlee Huska had a team-high 18 set assists. Haidyn Sammons finished with 17 digs.
