Jack Potter, of Windom, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at the Sogge Good Samaritan Society and entered into his new life with Jesus on September 26 at the age of 91. Jack was born on April 11, 1933, in Amo Township to Malcolm and Madge (Thompson) Potter. He attended school at Jeffers & Stordon Public Schools in Minnesota where he lettered in basketball and football. Jack’s hobbies were watching sports and old movies on TV, and he also spent many hours visiting with friends over coffee. He was a farmer first, last, and always. He loved feeding cattle but gave it up for his wife’s sake. In 1952 he married Roxanne (Stahl) and they made their home on farms near Jeffers until 1968 when they moved south of Windom and in 1988 they moved into Windom. In 1955, Jack accepted the Lord as Savior and was baptized and joined the Jeffers Baptist Church. In 1974, he joined the Windom Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and usher. He also volunteered many hours cleaning snow from the church parking lot. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Roxanne “Roxy”; his children Kim Potter of Minneapolis, MN; Scot (Chris) Potter of Windom, MN; Amy (Richard) Arness of Fargo, ND; Rex (Ann Dinklage) Potter of Spirit Lake, IA; and a sister, Judy Zahren of Baltimore, MD; as well as four grandchildren, Alex Potter, Morgan (Mathias) Hertel, Jacky (Kyle) Emmanuel, and Derek (fiance Alexis Hageman) Arness, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Vince and his wife Sandy, a brother-in-law, Robert (Bob) Stahl, brother-in-law Terry Zahren, a sister-in-law Cheri Potter, and a grandson-in-law, Pete (Alex Potter) Reed. Jack chose to donate his body to the University of Minnesota Medical School.
