The Cottonwood County Board approved a bid to begin immediate repairs to a culvert beneath County Road 99 that was damaged by floods this summer.
Because the estimated cost of the project was below $175,000, Highway Engineer Nick Klisch sought quotes rather than formal bids to address repairs. And, citing public safety during harvest, the county awarded the quote that could start on the project soonest.
The low quote from R&E Enterprises could not begin work until November. The second-low quote, from Mathiowetz Construction, could begin immediately. Klisch added that costs for the project would be reimbursable through FEMA.
The board accepted the quote of $149,992 from Mathiowetz Construction.
