A capacity crowd had plenty to cheer about for the Windom Eagle volleyball team Friday afternoon, as the Eagles rolled to a 3-0 sweep in the team’s inaugural homecoming match against Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda.
The Eagles bombed away from the service line early in the match, with Hadley Sammons and Charlee Huska each piling up four aces in the match. The pressure from the service line prevented the Coyotes from getting comfortable on offense, which gave the Eagles extra opportunities to attack.
Hannah Dauer paced the Eagles with eight kills in the win. Addison Colbert added seven kills and Ember Struck and Adison Hogan had five kills each.
Huska had 13 set assists while Anja Nielsen added 12. Colbert and Haidyn Sammons each finished with six digs.
Springfield 19-14-25-14 = 1
RRC 25-25-23-25 = 3
Red Rock Central had a strong day at the net and from the service line Friday, as the Falcons claimed a 3-1 homecoming afternoon victory over Springfield at Lamberton.
RRC raced out to early leads in each of the first two sets. Springfield battled back to force a fourth set, but the Falcons again got out to a quick lead and made it stick.
Maia Scheffler went 23-of-24 serving with an ace. Ally Linder was 21-of-21 with an ace.
At the net, Tia Donkersloot led the way with 14 kills. Abby Evans added 13 kills.
Natasha Erickson had 26 set assists. Scheffler finished with 15 digs.
