The Wings United girls soccer team got out to an early lead but couldn’t hold it Tuesday night, dropping a 5-1 decision to Worthington at St. James.
The Wings got on the scoreboard first, when Tora Hemmingsen raced past the Trojan defense with the ball and rifled a shot from the right point into the upper-left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead, five minutes into the game.
But the lead didn’t hold. A minute later, the Trojans won a scramble in front of the Wings net and poked the ball into the twine, tying the game at 1-1.
Worthington then added two more goals, scoring off good passes in front of the net to take a 3-1 halftime lead.
Worthington added a pair of goals in the second half, while limiting the offensive pressure by the Wings.

The Wings United boys soccer team couldn’t get any offense going Tuesday night, as a powerful Worthington squad raced to an early lead and cruised to an 11-0 win at Worthington.
The Trojans had two players net hat tricks in the game, as Worthington peppered the Wings net.
Meanwhile, the Wings were limited on offense, with only a handful of shot attempts in the game.
